Questions about function:

Question:

The gt-80 plus have tpms program functions?? also its capable to update by itself via interner and foxwell have oscilloscope feature or tools for sale?

Answer: Foxwell GT80 has the function of TPMS programming, but only program TPMS ECU to indentify new sensor, it can’t program blank sensor. GT80 has oscilloscope feature and tools for sale in foxwellshop.com.

Question:

I have a 2010 BMW 335d, 2003 Volvo S40, 2012 Volvo S60, 2004 BMW Z4 2.5L, 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0L and a 1998 Toyota Rav4.

I have to replace the battery on the BMW 335d so the ability to reset Battery configuration is a must have feature.

The 2003 Volvo S40's Air Bag light is on, so Air Bag code reading/reset is also a plus feature.

I'd also like to be able to read/reset more than just the P codes. (Multi-system diagnosis?)

ABS would also be nice to have.

And the ability to reset service reminders on the BMWs and Volvos.

I also understand that some of your scan tools allow for changing settings such as "close window from key fob"

I am more than just a backyard mechanic, but I'm not a professional mechanic.

I have looked at your NT510, NT644, NT1001 and NT4021 and am not sure exactly which one would best fit my shopping list.

Answer: recommend you choose GT80 Plus, this machine can realize the function you need.

http://www.foxwellshop.com/wholesale/gt80-next-generation-diagnostic-platform.html

If you consider this tool not reasonable at price, recommend you Foxwell NT4021 for for battery configuration and Foxwell NT644 for diagnose.

Question: I am looking for a scan tool that will do OBD2, CAN, TPMS, and SRS what do you recommend?

What about NT301?

Answer:Foxwell GT80 Next is ok, also NT510 is ok too.

Question: Which one of Foxwell scanner is built in with wifi or Bluetooth?

Answer: for diagnostic scanner, only GT80 is built in with WIFI. For others, CRD700 and DPT701 is built in with WIFI, and it can connect to the computer via the extra WIFI, then test the common rail pressure and print data via the APP on the computer.  BT-705 Battery Analyzer is built in with Bluetooth, you are able to install Bluetooth and print data.

Fail======

Question: the GT80 Plus diagnostic platform can cover Ferrari? Please advise.

Answer: Ferrari is under testing now, we estimate to release it within half month to one month, must test it

Question:

Q: Specific question regarding the e46 M3's. Is the GT80 Plus capable of coding an SMG car to a manual? We currently have an Autologic, which is considerably more expensive than the GT80, but it has problems 50% of the time accomplishing this task without issue. I would be interested in moving to your product if it is as capable as the Autologic and can handle the smg to manual conversion without problem.

A: Sorry GT80 not support BMW E46 this function.

This post collects foxwellshop customers’ feedback on Foxwell AutoMaster NT644 multi-brand full-system scanner test reports Yes or NO on the specific models and function. And for some NT644 fail to do, NT510 and GT80 can do, go on reading for details.

EPB function on 2012 year Porsche -yes

2014 Isuzu mux lst diesel 12V, Australian – No.

DPF regeneration on Mitsubishi pajero 2008 7 seats, engine: diesel 3200 engine type: V98W (this brand is called shogun/montero instead of pajero) - yes

Cover abs and airbag one one Australian ford and Toyota hybrid Camry - yes (Tip: the workable year is different from one model to other; it covers up to 2015 year).

Own a 2004 Chevy 2500HD 8.1L and a 2006 VW Passat 2.0T, the best option is NT500 scanner, and it covers all the function of NT500. Get one NT510 scanner with one car model software for free and another one software for 60USD. NT644 compare with NT510: NT644 scanner cannot cover all function of NT500, there are two functions NT644 not support SAS and Bi-directional control tests.

I have a 2010 BMW 335d, 2003 Volvo S40, 2012 Volvo S60, 2004 BMW Z4 2.5L, 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0L and a 1998 Toyota Rav4.

To reset Battery configuration on the BMW 335d, I use foxwell NT4021

To diagnose, I use foxwell AutoMaster NT644.

However NT4021 and NT644 not meet all my demands, I got one Foxwell GT80 $1,200 free shipping (Compared with GT80 Plus, GT80 has no internal battery and with different appearance). I used it to reset Battery configuration on the BMW 335d, Air Bag code reading/reset on 2003 Volvo S40,  to read/reset more than just the P codes, to cover ABS,  to reset service reminders on the BMWs and Volvos, to close window from key fob.

What the similarities and differences among NT510, NT624, NT644 and NT414?

Foxwell NT510 function is same as GT80Plus and GT80, it support few car models like 1. Chrysler/GM/Honda, Acura/Hyundai,Kia/Toyota,Lexus, Sicon/Land Rover, Jaguar/OPEL, Vauxhall/VW, AUDI, Seat, Skoda/BMW/Fiat. E.G. Nt510 can be used for BMW bleeding the brakes and also for actuation of the abs pump, also code a new battery in the car. And for simple BMW diagnostic NT510 is the best.

NT510 is one model for free and other models need to pay.

NT624 is full-system diagnosis for full car makes, but its diagnostic function is not as powerful as NT510.

NT644 is NT624+Special function

NT414 can diagnose four system for all makes.

Where to get AutoMaster Pro NT644?

Directly bought from the authorized dealer at www.foxwellshop.com, it is available with 18months free update online, after 18months the update cost is 100USD/ year at foxwelltech site and sometimes it is on sale for a lower price. The update will not turn back to Chinese script. one year warranty.

$

Below starts with BMW 05 X5 E53 4.4i Dreaded ABS block "air bubble trap", finally  Foxwell NT510 multi-system scanner bleed the air out of ABS block, go on reading for details.

Car model: BMW 05 X5 E53 4.4i with 90K on the clock

Symptoms and Issue:
Simply speaking, Dreaded ABS block "air bubble trap".
Description: at the beginning, 05 X5 E53 is no brake pedal. I Topped off the master cylinder (it was only slightly low) and tried to pump them up only to find that I had become yet another victim of the dreaded brake line blowout. - Ended up with a huge puddle under the driver side door and having to replace all of the lines that run down that side. I have that done, I of course can't get all of the air out of my ABS block.

Device to use:
foxwell-nt510-multi-system-scanner

I plan to use it to get into "bleed mode" and try to get the rest of the air out of my lines.

Finally, Foxwell NT510 scanner did it:
I get mine Foxwell NT510 scanner, get my ABS bled, which it worked perfectly for by the way and then get slammed at work.
this will be a solid diag and reset tool.
my local Dealership wanted $650 to bleed the air out of my ABS block after I ran my new lines and for $179 I was able to buy the Foxwell, set my ABS to bleed mode and save myself $450 - so all in all, I'm still saying it was a good investment for me in the end.

Foxwell NT510 multi-system scanner using tips:
  1. Foxwell NT510 is a multi-brand tool (many manufacturers listed in the manual). It is packed with no car software, you are supposed to register and download one software for free on the official site foxwelltech.com, and buy additional manufacture packages also via the Foxwelltech site, $60 for each manufacture package.
Update is free for 18 months on foxwelltech site after the end-user registers the tool with Foxwell.

  1. One friend regret getting one clone Foxwell NT510 that was unable to register at official site and update. So, do some homework before buy one is rather important, the original Foxwell NT510 is usually available at the authorized dealer who can off authorized certificate (usually they upload it on their shop, if not contact them). I got mine from this site foxwellshop.com

$
0

Below post starts with BMW 2004 BMW 3 series E46 325xi need a simply handheld diagnostic tool to diagnose any potential issues (used by DIYer), then Foxwell Multi-system NT510 scanner is used, how it step - by - step to do, reading following parts for details.

Car model and year:

2004 BMW 3 series E46 325xi_M54_SAL USA_LHD

with miles 190K on the dashboard.

I want a diagnostic scanner to do:

I wanted to be able to diagnose any potential issues on the fly and do as many DIY fixes myself as possible.

I'm not the type of person looking for a tool in order to code or dive into the vehicle ECU.

This diagnostic scanner to use:

Handheld Foxwell NT510 multi-system scanner (No need additional computer)

The price point for this item was just right $179 free shipping and according to foxwellshop.com, I am allowed to add manufacturers to the device in the near future (i.e.; AU FORD, BMW, Chrysler, Fiat, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Holden, Land Rover, OPEL, Toyota and VAG) and the price is only $70 for each manufacture.

Foxwell NT510 scanner comes with following items:

1*NT510 Multi-System Scan Tool

1*User Guide

1*Nylon Carry Pouch

Step - by -step procedure:

At begining, I plugged into the OBDII port (The unit will power-up as soon as it's plugged in) then the start-up screen show as below, I got four options:

1) OBDII

2) Manufacturer Specific

3) Setup or Settings

4) Playback for previously saved data

The device is handheld so easy to use and set-up is pretty self explanatory. I use the arrow buttons and enter/back buttons to cycle through the scanner.

foxwell-nt510-diagnose-bmw-e46-01

Select the OBDII function, it'll immediately have an auto-scan of your vehicle for any DTC. As you can see below, my scan came back with no codes found.

foxwell-nt510-diagnose-bmw-e46-02

After Foxwell NT510 scanner finish the scan and you press OK, it'll take you to the 'Diagnostic Menu'. Here you will be able to view in-depth descriptions of any codes that may have popped up and save and/or erase them.

Coding BMW E70 using Foxwell NT510 scan and coding tool (Feedback)

$
0
0

I just received one Foxwell NT510 scan and coding tool today, I am working my way through this scan tool and so far I have been relatively impressed.

Played around on my BMW E70 for a bit, covers ABS, Airbag, Electronic Parking Brake, some EWS/CAS, Active Suspension, Service Resets for $179.

ON my E70 I have use Foxwell NT510 codes all sorts of convenience features for things like door locks, windows, tailgate and lighting.

Moreover, OBDII for more than just BMW protocol along with BMW specialized/proprietary codes and Bi-directional control for many modules and systems in the vehicle for testing and troubleshooting purposes. Everything from rolling windows up and down, turning lights on and off and controlling the HVAC/IHKA. Also Live data from many of the subsystems in the vehicle, so switch inputs can be monitored and on newer vehicles with a true TPMS with individual wheel sensors you can see the tire pressure.

Foxwell NT510 can be updated to include AU FORD, BMW, Chrysler, Fiat, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Holden, Land Rover, OPEL, Toyota and VAG for approximately $70 for one brand. These updates are manufacturer specific.

http://www.foxwellshop.com/wholesale/software-authorization-for-nt510-multi-system-scanner.html

nt510-multi-system-scanner-new-1

With a tool like the Foxwell NT510 Scanner for BMW, all you need to do is keep and interface in the car and you will always have at least an OBDII tool at hand when out on the road.

So for around $179 USD, the Foxwell tool looks very promising. There is always newer update that is supposed to offer more coding capability as well. Unclear what coding capabilities will be released, not sure if it is more personalization of modules and lighting changes or something more in depth.

Diagnosing and coding BMW E31 E38 using Foxwell NT510 scanner

$
0
0

I found this Foxwell NT510 scanner chart that shows the specific function per BMW model which is helpful. foxwellshop has NT510 scanner for $179, but I found it on ECS for $199. Seems pretty reasonable for all the readout capability and the coding it claims. Plus you can buy additional software (only $70USD) for one of other manufacturers (Including AU FORD, BMW, Chrysler, Fiat, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Holden, Land Rover, OPEL, Toyota and VAG) as well. One another thing to consider about this tool is that the software updates for it are free for the first 18 months only, and after that only the cost of updates is only 60USD.

I have to use for my BMW E31 and E38. I can speak to ease of use and functionality.

As you can see below chart is Foxwell NT510 Scanner workable function on BMW E31.

bmw-e31-hart-foxwell-nt510

BMW-E3-foxwell-nt510

Here I list some I tested for your reference.

BMW E31 especially early are going to be very limited on features. This isn't due to the tools or software used, it's just the DMEs don't have the echo commands to provide all the detailed data.

Electronic parking brake reset, SRS reset, and service intervals are the "big 3" packages that our tool has.

As for coding injectors after replacement with Foxwell NT510, it's an accessible option in the menu list... I haven't tried it because my injectors are fine but there's a long list of menus in fuel injection you can mess with. Injector replacement and adaptations were in there and you could access it.

Foxwell NT510 can read out manufacturer specific codes. Most handheld tuners that will also pull codes only pull the basic P codes, not your BMW specific code lines. Now don't get me wrong P codes are very useful, they'll send you down the right path (most of the time), but manufacturer specific codes are going to tell you what door to open.

Foxwell unit is a standalone tool, no need for a laptop, this can be a positive or negative depending on the style tool you like to use. If you're use to a GUI interface on a laptop going to a scan tool style interface will take some getting use to.

Going by a quick look once Foxwell releases the coding update the tools look to have very similar functions. Also no VIN lock on the foxwelll scan tool, use it on as many cars as you'd like.

In conclusion:

Foxwellshop extended us an evaluation copy of this unit and I was really impressed with it. The various functions remind me of the vaunted VAG-COM system we've used in Volkswagen & Audi for years. Such a simple and affordable scanner is really a plus for this platform.

(Solved)2001 GU Patrol (Y61) going into limp home mode

$

Below post starts with car model 2001 GU Patrol (Y61) symptom that car kept going into limp home mode, then recommended to have one Foxwell AutoMaster Pro NT624 scanner to solved. How this story goes? Go on reading following parts. Hope it helps.

Car model: 2001 GU Patrol (Y61) with a 4.8 lt petrol

Symptoms:

My car kept going into limp home mode and i could not drive it (well).

Scan Tool to use:

Foxwell AutoMaster Pro Series tools: Foxwell AutoMaster Pro NT624foxwell-nt624-package

I use AutoMaster Pro NT624 to check ECU and read out fault code as below:

PO134 H02S1 (B1) – Heated O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1

P1122 ETC FUNCTION/CRC – Throttle Body Actuation -Electronic Traction Control

P1123 ETC Mot RLY/CRC – Electronic Traction Control – Motor Relay

After cleared the fault code, I got the left code:

P1122 ETC FUNCTION/CRC – Throttle Body Actuation -Electronic Traction Control

Then I have a quick check of the live data for the Throttle Body motor, when graphed against the Throttle Position Sensor, revealed that the throttle body motor was in-fact intermittently faulty. Causing a correlation error -Throttle position sensor not accurately reflecting the a accelerator position sensor.

Then I decided to do a quick check on the fault code:

PO134 H02S1 (B1) – Heated O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1

As this would take a drive cycle (potentially) to reset. We naviaged to the live data for the both O2 Sensors and graphed them together. With O2 Sensors, the general rule of thumb is to see them switch between rich and lean (0.1 -ish- and 0.9 -ish- Volts) around 8 times over 10 seconds at 2000 rpm. Watching each O2 sensor signal I counted the crosses (switching between 0.1 – 0.9) and found that wile the bank 2 (rear) sensor was crossing around 5 times (a lazy sensor) the bank 1 (front) was struggling to make 3 crosses. Both sensors where more often on the lean side. So although not technically a current fault, I was suggested to also replace my O2 sensors as they are both currently lazy -one more so than the other- and likely to need replacement in the future.

How to diagnose Ford Falcon BA V8 ABS fault using FoxWell NT630

Case Study - how to diagnose Ford Falcon BA V8 ABS fault using Foxwell NT630 ABS Airbag Reset Tool.

Car model and year: Ford Falcon BA V8

Issues / Symptoms:

ABS Warning Light Illuminated

ABS Brakes not operating

Ford Diagnostic tool to use:

FoxWell NT630 ABS Airbag Reset Tool, I highly recommend foxwellshop for $179 free shipping.

Fault code:

C1155 LHF Wheel Speed Sensor

Step –by-step procedure:

Plugged in the FoxWell NT630 Scan tool. After Navigating to the BA Ford Falcon diagnostics menu. The fault code "C1155 LHF Wheel Speed Sensor" was read out, As part of standard fault interrogating the fault code was noted and cleared. Turned the ignition on and the Fault code reset straight away after the ABS module did a self test (Details at the last part). Subsequently graphed the left and right front wheel speed sensors from the live data menu with FoxWell NT630 and found when driving the vehicle that the output of the LHF wheel speed sensor was flat line. After gaining access to the wheel speed sensor and a quick resistance check with a multimeter, found that the sensor was in fact open circuited.

Finally, the LHF wheel speed sensor to be replaced:

I was recommended to have the LHF wheel speed sensor replaced and (subsequently) once the sensor had been replaced, cleared the fault codes and test drove the vehicle to ensure no other faults remained.

LHF-wheel-speed-sensor

How to do ABS Module Self testing:

ABS-module-self-test

Due to the safety aspect of functional and Safe brake operation, The ABS Module (and the SRS Module) does a self test by supplying voltages to each pin and measuring the voltage (the short version) on it's corresponding return pin. In an instance when the voltage is not within it's specified parameters -IE. Too High, Too Low, Missing, The ABS module then determines the relevant fault and deactivates the ABS system and illuminated the ABS warning light. This happens during each key cycle and is why the light illuminates when the key is first turned on.

2) Foxwell NT510 is a great option to carry in the trunk vs having to access a laptop for the vag-com cable.

  • For people without a $300+ vag cable, the Foxwell NT510 scan tool would be only $179 cheaper than the tablet and vagcom.

Where did I get Foxwell NT510 Multi-System Scanner from?
There are not only one shop online who will sell you Foxwell items.
Therefore it is always nice to have a company recommended that someone has experience with.
This is the people I bought my Foxwell Nt510 scanner from
I'm sure they are not the most expensive and also not lowest price and but they did answer all of my emails in 24 hours and my order only took 7 working days to arrive. Their orders can be tracked online so you know where it is.

How to use OBDSTAR X300M to change mileage on Audi Q5 2010

Received OBDSTAR X300M package for a few days and discussed a lot about it on forums. Sounds an interesting topic. Here share something what i did on this OBDSTAR X300M unit yesterday.

OBDSTAR-X300M-X300-M (1)

I used X300M for my Audi Q5 2010 to change km. Very easy; all i did was to follow the screen instruction only.

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(1)

The km before change: 22850km

And this is the item for mileage adjustment; it;s obdstar x300m

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(8)

Connect X300m to the OBD port on Q5

Then, follow to screen

Select the models:

Select software AUDI/VW/SKODA/SEAT V31.11 for ready use:

Then go to MILEAGE ADJUSTMENT

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(11)

The X300M first read the original km (my Q5: 22850km) after communication

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(12)

Next, to setup the new mileage; i input 105312

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(13)Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(14)

X300m change km by itself (about 10-25 min)

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(15)Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(16)

The dash also displays the same mileage.

Audi-Q5-odometer-correction-by-OBDSTAR-X300M-(17)

So, it’s successful.

Can Foxwell NT510 find BMW 90 bad cylinder so I replace one?

$
0
0

This post will answer this question “Can I use Foxwell NT510 to find which cylinder so I am not replacing one plug at a time to find the bad one?

If so, which function could I use?”, after that is the report back.

foxwell-nt644-automaster-pro-diagnose-with-epb-oil-service-scanner-9

Answer from senior technician:

If you have a misfire then your will have a fault code. Fault code are always retrievable until they get deleted. Search for the fault code and it will tell you what cylinder or just google the code and I’m sure the definition will pop up somewhere

If you replaced plugs and you getting misfires then the problem is your coils.

Reporting back:
Registering a battery is super easy. It gives you the option to say that you upgraded the Ah rating as well if you are having trouble finding an OEM spec battery.
The Maxx ever start H8 I picked up from Walmart (after reading a few threads, that's what I landed on) did not have an amp hour value. I read that someone just registered it, didn't do any coding, and was still happy with it after four years so I went with just a registration also.

Now, regarding the misfire.... No codes came up.
This shudder is only detectable at idle and is somewhat random. It happens after sitting at idle for a few seconds after driving. Generally have to wait longer after stopping at a light if the car is warm.

The only code was 2E8D which I'm gonna say was from replacing the battery. Will clear it and see if it pops up again.

Land Rover user's experiencing diary with Foxwell AutoMaster NT644

18-02-16

Well, I've just ordered the Foxwell NT644 in www.foxwellshop.com. Paid $179 for next 2 -7 days delivery from their Amazon warehouse rather than waiting three weeks for it to come from China. Paid on PayPal too in case there's any problems. Oh, and they guarantee that it does the service lights for 2010 onwards VW/Audi vehicles. Gotta be better than the one I've got.

Update 22-02-16

Foxwell NT644 arrived today before 10:00am. Haven't registered or updated it yet as the 18 months of free updates start from when you register it. It seems to have models up to 2014 on it so that's good enough for now. I'll leave it 6 months or a year before registering and updating it. Tried it out on the wife's Evoque this afternoon and it showed up two faults when checking all the various systems - gear change module and drivers seat module. Haven't noticed anything wrong with them so cleared the faults, took it for a quick spin and rechecked them, still all clear so probably something stored from before we bought it. The Evoque still has 21 months of manufacturers guarantee left so if any faults return, back it'll go!

foxwell-automaster-nt644-1

Update 23-02-16

That shows I can at least access the various modules with Foxwell NT644. I am not worries about codes on Land Rovers, any slight over or under voltage will trigger codes in all the modules. That'll be why the Landrover Assistance tech didn't notice them a month or so ago when I called them out to look at the keyless entry playing up. That time it needed a new Keyless Vehicle Module replacing under warranty. Tech needed a dedicated computer and then he had to phone the results and readings through to a higher level tech to get advice. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of old school cars - adjustable brakes, CB points, idle speed and c.o. mixture, ign timing, valve clearances, clutch free-play, steering boxes, wheel bearings and fan belts. Simpler days, gone forever.

Been looking at getting another Rover SD1 as a project (have had 5 of these things) and fitting a Holley on a V8 so no fuel injection to worry about. Got my eye on a 2.3 auto so that would make an ideal starter for what I want.

The TVR is mega complicated now with all the changes and I don't have the software to look at it myself. And I really do not like paying mechanics to work on my car.......

Foxwell NT510 Scan Tool used on BMW Mini_R58...Feedback on pros and cons

$
0
0

I have a BMW MINI R58 and I bought Foxwell NT510 scan tool. Given that it's $179, I thought I'd do a good deed and maybe help somebody out.

I'm going to cover a few topics:
1. outlook and package
2. Procedure and Performance

3. Features I've tried (pros and cons)

Part 1: Foxwell NT510 outlook and package

Put Foxwell NT510 scan tool on my hand, it seems well constructed. Has a rubberized surround that looks like it'll survive a drop or thirty. The cable leading to the OBD plug is about 42" long, which for my Coupe is enough to bring the tool just outside the door, when the door is shut. Not a problem to use inside, at either seat. There is a port on the bottom for a mini-USB cable, and a microSD slot on the left side. (It came with an unbranded 4Gb class 6 card)
nt510-multi-system-scanner-new
NT510 includes a zippered case with an embroidered foxwell logo. It's OK, I guess. It's marginally padded and seems to be made of the same material my old gradeschool backpack was. Includes an elastic strap to hold the scanner and a pocket on the flap for the USB cable and the microSD reader also included. I'm nonplussed, nothing particularly special about it.

The first thing I actually did with it was plug in the included USB cable and see what happens. (I used my Windows 8.1 laptop) It powered on quickly.

foxwell nt510 scanner menu-02

Update and register: The only thing that may be of concern is there are free updates from 18 months from the time of tool registration, then, they cost. Additional brands can be purchased up to a total of 5 different brands for a retail of about $70 ea.

Compare with BMW INPA:

INPA is a diagnostic tool typically used with a laptop and a special OBD2 cable. It can be tricky to set up (I have used it on my R58 and an R50) but it's capable of an amazing array of diagnostics and controls.
Foxwell NT510 scanner is SO MUCH EASIER to use than INPA.

Part 2: Procedure and Performance:

Plug in the NT510 scanner and it'll turn on, bringing you to the main screen. Speaking of screen, it is not a touch-screen. Navigation is done using the soft-touch buttons, which feel like... one of those universal TV remote controls with the comically large buttons. I had no issues navigating; all button presses react quickly and there's no lag that I can detect.
Once it's on (again, takes maybe two seconds to turn on) you choose your model (in this case, MINI - it also does BMW, and, inexplicably, Rolls Royce) At that point, you get the VIN, either through an automatic scan (my preference), entering it manually, or "manual selection" (which I haven't tried).

bmw mini info-03

With the scan complete, you can scan for active modules, (Auto Scan), directly select your control unit, or enter the Service.

The auto scan polls a list of options your car may or may not have, and it takes a while. I think the full manual-select list has 39 control units; my car had 12 units respond - it takes a short while to scan since each unit is polled for response and any errors.

bmw mini info-04

bmw mini info-autoscan-05

If there is a fault reported, it will tell you how many and you can read the error, such as these in my TPMS system:

foxwell-nt510-fault code-06

You can also do a "quick erase" which goes through all control units and eliminates all codes. This includes stored codes, which other scan tools won't see.

Each control unit has its own menu:

foxwell-nt510 function menu-07

Here's my ABS pump:

foxwell-nt510-fault code ecu info-08

Part 3 - features I've tried (Pros)

The procedure is the same for any control unit with an option to activate. First, you have to drill down to your component and choose "component activation". I think it can be accessed more quickly using the manual control unit selection, but this time I used the automatic scan and selected the unit that way. Either way works, and it's nice to be able to skip the scan if you know which unit you want to try. (a touch I appreciate)

Some control units have several layers deep worth of control, while others may have only one. For example, the ABS unit has like one option, whereas the radio has at least 6 top-level options and several levels below most of those options. It depends on the complexity of the control.

foxwell-nt510 component activation-09

I chose it because it is an example that has lots of options. Let's poke it...

foxwell-nt510-audio system controler-10

Here's a sample of what you'll get when you select "Turn On Radio":

foxwell-nt510 switch on radio-11

There's more to cover, including CBS resets, interval control, and engine parameter trimming Also, you can reset the oil and inspection intervals with the scanner Able toreprogram some factory modules back to stock (like for module replacements) possible in the future with more updates from foxwell.

Cons:

One warning, though - DON'T activate the PDC beeper. Even if your car doesn't have PDC (parking distance control) it can still make the noises. If you activate it, it will stay on until you finally find the option to turn it off, and it will annoy you. It won't even turn off if you remove the key from the ignition. (this could be easily patched, I think, by adding a "deactivate" option to the PDC-activate option. All that's there now is "Activate")

Cannot change the service intervals range from what I found. But it will reset the CBS and the other service intervals.

Wont do all the codings that one could normally do with NCS and a laptop, like disable key chime, one-touch sunroof open and close, disable bulb-out warnings

I have a 2001 bmw 530i and need to find a tool that does OBD scan, abs, srs and will reset all, then I am recommended the Foxwell NT510 scan tool and paid at foxwellshop.com, it works like a charm I am very satisfied.

I would like to do a quick review on the NT510 and hope it would help anyone.

Shipment and custom: Paid $179 free shipping and charged no custom, shipping took 2 days as they claimed they have USA warehouse.

Package and software:

The device was well packaged; every item was in good shape, open the Nylon Carry Pouch, as you can see it contains one NT510 handheld scanner, one CD software, one USB Cable, one Memory Card and user's Guide.

Register and add software:

The NT510 machine comes with no software, the first thing I have to do is follow their instruction and register a ID at the official site page foxwelltech.com and download the software, meanwhile provide foxwellshop my NT510 serial number for adding BMW software.

Update:

They claim foxwell tools 18-months software free upgrade and one year quality guarantee, after 18 months the update cost is 60USD per year.

nt510-multi-system-scanner-new

Add more than one car make software:

NT510 scanner is shipped with one manufacture software for free and can cover up to five vehicle makes (BMW, Fiat, American Ford, Chrysler, GM, Honda & Accura, Hyundai & Kia & Toyota & Lexus, Sicon, Land Rover & Jaguar, OPEL & Vauxhall, VAG group models) at only $70 per make(with include update fee and PayPal fee).

Compare with BMW INPA:

INPA is a diagnostic tool typically used with a laptop and a special OBD2 cable. It can be tricky to set up (I have used it on my R58 and an R50) but it's capable of an amazing array of diagnostics and controls.

So, for people who don't want to bother to install driver on PC and may take hours if any issue happened, Foxwell NT510 is the best choice, it is SO MUCH EASIER to use than INPA.

Where to Get Foxwell NT510 Multi-System Scanner?

I bought from the authorized dealer www.foxwellshop.com, the customer service is helpful when I have any issue, they response quickly.

Petrol engine: Leakage test in air intake duct
The new leakage test is implemented in the current state for the following petrol engines:
- B38, B46, B48, B58 (crosswise or lengthwise)
- N63TUE, N63TUE2, S63, N74TUE
- N18 (vehicle electrical system 2020), N20 (vehicle electrical system 2020), N55 (vehicle electrical system

Leakage test procedure:
During the leakage test, the air intake duct is inflated with the diagnosis system (air pump). The air intake duct is
considered to be tight, provided, an excess pressure of 50 mbar is achieved within 7 min.
The pressure test is carried out with the motor's own pressure sensors.
Pressure measurement is done with the Integrated Measurement Interface Box (IMIB) only if for these pressure sensors, faults are saved or if the pressure sensors supply unplausible values.
The search for the leak is then done with the leak detector.

For the engine N63TÜ2 , there is now a special service function as a complement to the „diagnosis request“under „ontrol unit functions“ that permits the reading of engine measurements from both the control units of the
N63TÜ (master and slave).
The reading of the engine measurement values under the diagnosis request has the disadvantage that the measurement values of one control unit can be displayed. This is a disadvantage especially with V-engines with 2 control units, as in e.g. the N63TÜ.
Bank-specific values, such as the position of the intake camshaft for bank 1 and bank 2 or the rough running value of all cylinders, cannot be displayed at once.Bank-specific values are processed separately in the master control unit and slave control unit.
With the new service function, „ngine measurement values“ AS1214_TVDMS_MESS this disadvantage has now been remedied.
This function is available under the following path: Service function, > drivetrain, > digital motor electronics, >engine measurement values
Petrol engine: Service function, OBD scan tool for F series and G
series
This new service function allows reading out SAE fault codes.
SAE fault codes are emission-relevant faults that activate the malfunction indicator lamp.
The service function is available using the following path:
Petrol engine and diesel engine: Reset adaptations
The ABL to "Reset adaptations" has been restructured. A selection menu also offers targeted resets for functional parts, such as mixture adaptation or fuel system adaptation in addition to the familiar "Reset all adaptations".
Body
ConnectedDrive services: new "Functional limitation of
ConnectedDrive services" ABL
Malfunctions of ConnectedDrive services are evaluated using the following control unit versions (starting from
07/2016):
- Service functions > Drive > OBD scan tool
- Service functions > Vehicle information > OBD scan tool
The new ABL evaluates saved information on faults if a functional limitation occurred when carrying out a ConnectedDrive service. The stored fault for the functional limitations of the ConnectedDrive services always indicates an error outside the vehicle. The new ABL evaluates information on faults and displays a corresponding measure.
Rain-light-solar-condensation sensor for vehicles with junction box
electronics (JBE)
The status display and notes in the test module were optimised.
Service function for the emergency operation of the rear module, E89
The procedure of the service function was optimised and designed to be user friendly.
Front and rear front seat heating, F-series
The test modules were optimised with regard to the procedure and display of documents.
Top rear side view camera (TRSVC), F0x, F1x, RR4, RR5, RR6
Cleaning and extension of the test module with a new fault status.
Top rear side view camera (TRSVC), F0x, F1x, F3x, RR4, RR5, RR6
Extension of the test module with a manual calibration.
Camera-based driver assistance systems (KAFAS), I01, F2x, F3x,
F4x, F5x, F8x
Extension of the test module with the request for a CC message for driver assistance.
CBS vehicle data correction, all vehicles
In the test module "CBS vehicle data correction", the point of time for maintenance can be taken over from the electronic service booklet (if available) or alternatively the production date for automatic correction, as desired.
The take over is possible for the following areas: Engine oil, brake fluid, vehicle check, front brake (CBS6), rear brake (CBS6), exhaust-gas test and vehicle inspection.
- Head Unit High from the 4th generation
- TCB from the 3rd generation
New measuring resistor for ignition circuits, all series
There is now a measuring resistor for the diagnosis of the ignition circuit, e.g. driver's airbag. With it the risk of an incorrect measurement (short circuit jumpers of airbag) and the danger of an accidental activation due to a faulty measurement (too high of a measurement current) can be ruled out.
Additional measuring resistors for further ignition circuits with other plug connections are planned by the middle of 2016!
High-voltage electrical system
New service function for cell module, PHEV-vehicles and i vehicles
New service function for evaluation of the transportability of a cell module, after this has been removed.
Path: Service functions, > drivetrain, > hybrid vehicle, > high-voltage battery unit, > transportability of the highvoltage
battery unit: Electrical analysis
If a cell module area has already been removed and no electrical evaluation has been done via ISTA, the measured values are can be read out with the cell module-charger and entered in the service function. The service function then shows the result of the electrical evaluation. For how to proceed further for the evaluation, follow the document "Transportability as a cell module: electrical evaluation".
Test module, high-voltage system, I01
Addition of guided troubleshooting for faults in the high-voltage interlock loop to the test module "high-voltage system". Sporadic or permanent faults of the circuits of the high-voltage interlock loop are examined step-by-step to determine which line, connector or component is causing the fault. The fault search is based on feedback and experience.
Supplement of the remedial measure for the faults 21F241 to 21F248,
I01
For vehicles with I level from 16-07, the following fault patterns can occur:
Follow the measure indicated by the test module: Program at I level 16-07 and then re-initialise the adaptation values of the high-voltage battery.
- Power loss when the high-voltage battery has a very low state of charge (smaller than 8%) and with running range extender
- Inhomogeneous operation of the range extender at very low state of charge of the high-voltage battery (smaller than 8%)
- Vehicle without range extender: Switching off of the high-voltage systems when driving off or accelerating, when the state of charge of the high-voltage battery is very low (smaller than 8%).
Miscellaneous
Navigation in documents via the menu bar in ISTA
Previously called-up documents are logged in a history in the menu bar of ISTA: 3rd button from the left!
If multiple documents were called up one after the other, this button becomes active. The history can be displayed in a hit list by selecting the third button from the left. It is also possible to navigate within this list and call up specific documents again.
The button to the left of the list (left arrow) indicates back. The button to the right of the list (right button) indicates forwards.

Functional wiring diagrams
Functional networks from F01 have a functional wiring diagram node. Other functional wiring diagrams are gradually expanded here.
Comment of further wiring diagrams
If information on further wiring diagrams is sought for troubleshooting, the Documents button on the bottom left n ISTA must be pressed.
Note!
The functional wiring diagrams show the functional networking of a system. This serves to take the increasing network in the vehicle through the bus systems into account. The functional wiring diagrams offer an overview of the technical correlations and are supposed to make the understandable. The functional wiring diagram are not intended as wiring diagrams for troubleshooting!
